VISIT HOOVER DAM

We have seen this dam on two separate occasions. Once in October 1984 whist touring the State of California, Arizona and Nevada.

Then again in July 2002 whilst on our way to see our American friends, Art and Marian in Palm Desert.

This was our 1984 visit.

If you are wondering why Jacqueline is looking at her hand, she had just tripped over a kerb stone.

The dam was built in 1935 and created the world's largest man-made lake:

The dam was built to hold  back the mighty Colorado River forming , LAKE MEAD.

It now provides water for the entire Las Vegas area
