VISIT YOSEMITE PARK IN CALIFORNIA

In October 1984 we toured California, Arizona and Nevada. This gave us the opportunity to go to Yosemite Park and to follow the famous 17 mile scenic drive down the Pacific highway. Before entering Yosemite we visited Sequoia and King's Canyon National Parks. In Sequoia we saw:-

This is the world's oldest living thing - THE GENERAL SHERMAN TREE, which is around 2,500 years old.

Estimated weight is 1385 tons, circumference of trunk 103 feet.

Whilst driving to Yosemite Jacqueline spotted the LAZY J RANCH, at a place called Three Rivers. It was a very scenic setting with chalets dotted around the mountain greenery.  Jacqueline's words were :- I WANT TO STAY THE NIGHT THERE. So we did.

The following morning we moved on to this:-

The park had scenery almost beyond belief :

Travelling on through California, visiting San Francisco on the way, we reached the Pacific coast and the famous BIG SUR;

The Big Sur is the name given to the 17 mile drive down the Pacific Highway. It is very scenic -

On the way down this highway you enter a well known place -

This is CARMELL the town where Clint Eastwood was once Mayor and where Doris Day still lives today (2010) almost like a hermit.

The pacific Highway continues right down to Los Angeles where we caught our flight home.
